Responsibilities include: - Create and oversee the design of civil engineering projects. - Collaborate with Clients, Architects, and Engineers as a part of the project design team. - Project management and budgeting, proposal preparation, and familiarity with St. Louis area and MSD procedures. - Ability to work with EIT or drafter for plan preparation. Requirements: - Candidate to be a Missouri Licensed Professional Engineer or someone within 6 months or less of taking the license exam. - Storm-water hydraulics and hydrology design experience. - Site design experience. - Grading Plan design experience. - AutoCAD Civil 3D capable. A construction-backed project started almost a dec A construction-backed project started almost a decade ago to help people get a new start in life received a boost last week from participants in another effort focused on sustainable futures that has just begun. Last Friday, four of the five apprentices in the first cohort of Construction Forum’s newly-launched Certified Survey Technician Apprenticeship program gathered with their mentors at Ray Leisure Park at 11th Street and Park Avenue, just South of Nestle Purina headquarters. They were tasked with preparing a topographic survey of the park. The work of the apprentices — Kevin Smith, Civil Design Inc. (CDI); Terrell Porter, Jr., ABNA Engineering; Bryan Jones, Clayton Engineering; and Joshua Morgan, EDSI, plus that of their supervising mentors — had been donated by their employers as a form of giving back. Their pilot program includes full time employment, college-credit surveying classes at St. Louis Community College, culminating at a Department of Labor certification, a chance at a college degree, and a clear path to a career in construction.
